The BLOOD covenant

Have you ever heard these words when you go through hard times/sickness/loss of job etc “This is all part of life”. “Those symptoms are meant to be as you age”. Doesn’t it make you feel may be your body is meant to go through all that. Well, let’s see what God's word says…

We all know the story in Exodus when God heard the cries of Israelites as they were going through hard times in slavery under Egyptian Pharaoh. He chooses Moses to be His representative and promises the Israelites that He will bring them out of Egypt. And as Pharaoh didn’t listen to God's word of “Let My people go”, God was forced to send 12 different kind of plagues and at last after a hardest lesson of loosing his first born he lets the people go. These were counted as plagues to the Egyptians but for Israelites, God's chosen people these were counted as signs. Signs of God’s amazing power, Love and protection. He promised that the blood shall be a sign of distinction for His people.

If you read Exodus 8:23, God says, "I will make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.” Another translation says, "I will make a distinction between my people and your people."

Exodus 12:13, “Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.

Exodus 12:23, “For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.

Exodus 9:25 says, "And the hail struck throughout the whole land of Egypt, all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail struck every herb of the field and broke every tree of the field."

Every time the plague hits Egypt, the Israelites who are chosen by God who lived in Goshen were untouched/unharmed. God said there is a distinction between His people and the outsiders. In Old Testament the blood of the unblemished lamb held a high value of sign of distinction that stopped evil from touching them.

Oh, Yes, they had to believe what God said through Moses, they had to believe and choose to apply the blood and stay inside. Even through the sounds of hail/lightning and silence they had to believe God's word and that the blood of the lamb on their door posts would protect them. If the blood of the sacred lamb holds that much power, how much more the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ holds. He bled and shed for mankind, and that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting Life. The everlasting life we don’t deserve but His sacrifice and blood made a way for us to stand righteous before the Heavenly Father.

Hebrews 9:12 says, “Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.

Hebrews 9:14 - “how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

This blood of Jesus that was shed for us not only marks saved us but marks us a distinctive people chosen by and for God. Jesus is alive and He lives inside of us. As we go through life and storms let’s remember the blood of Jesus that has sealed us and marked us as HIS’ has the power to make that distinction. His word never comes back void. Even if you need strength to believe His word, He is ready to give you everything you ask because He is a Kind, Compassionate and a Loving Father!

To God and His Son Lord Jesus be all the Glory, Honour and Praise!!
