At some point in time during our driving, we might have faced this situation. Especially, when we were speeding and getting stuck behind a vehicle, unable to overtake or switch lanes because of the speeding vehicles on the other lane or due to heavy traffic. The best way out of that situation is to back up a little, slow down a bit until the distance between the vehicle that you were stuck behind increases, it is easier for you to switch lanes and overtake!
I would like to share an example of how our days can be in a full swing when on an auto pilot...Vroom, Vroom…
Most times without much thought, sometimes so meaningless, doing the same old thing again, bundled with cares and responsibilities, most often than not being pre-occupied. Fed up of your
job, promotion not coming through, dejected that your plans are not working out, unhappy in a relationship, were let down by people you called friends, finances are not adequate, things are not amusing anymore, fed up with life… Saying to yourself, "what else can I do", accepting our circumstances saying, "this is the best for me", "maybe God intended this for me", "maybe God doesn't love me anymore" or beating ourselves saying, "I deserve it", "I tried but I failed", "I tried and nothing good or better can come out of it", etc. The list goes on..
We keep going, as long as it is going we don’t give our life much thought until one day we reach a point where we are stuck (behind the vehicles of troubles, sorrows and the likes) and we are unable to overtake (overcome) them immediately. Well, here’s a chance, the time is right. Let’s back up a little. Let’s slow down a bit.
The BEST is in store for us while we REST and TRUST in our Lord and Savior... JESUS CHRIST!
RESTing in God is to rest in His Word. His Word is the ultimate truth, His Word Relaxes, Rejuvenates and Rebuilds us to go face the world. Take His Word daily and you can easily tell the difference. Every truth you learn from the Word will clear all the misunderstanding and confusion you once had.
Mathew 11:28
Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Psalm 55:22
Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Isaiah 41:13
For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you. 'Fear not, I will help you.
With Jesus by our side, we can overcome any situation.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
On a concluding note, make sure you REST in the Word of God so that you are not speeding or finding hard to overtake vehicles of troubles in the world.
REST ASSURED IN GOD!
That is really nice, Lucy - REST in God! Thank you.
We can only do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Thank you for the good reminder Lucy!
