AUTHORISED DEALERS!

It was one of those lazy days! Browsing the internet, I came across the foreign currency market where buying and selling of currency were explained. They had specific banks mentioned as their authorized dealers. Gazing through the pages, wait a minute - Authorised dealers? A thought flashed through my mind! “Authorised Dealers only for banks, cars, or worldly stuff?”

Searching quickly in a dictionary, I found the meaning of authorized to be “endowed with authority”. What a powerful word! I remembered Esther from the Bible, where she writes a letter to all the Jews regarding Purim.

Esther 9:29 - Then Queen Esther, the daughter of Abihail, with Mordecai the Jew, wrote with full authority to confirm this second letter about Purim.

She was given authority by King Ahasuerus. She wrote with full authority and that authoritative letter was the decree of Esther that confirmed the practices of Purim in the Jewish community up until now. Although it was many centuries ago, this decree is still valid and is still alive.

If that was the case in the olden times, slowly shifting my focus to Jesus' times, I remembered the Pharisees and the elders in the temple asked Him, “By what authority are you doing these things?” Yes, by what authority? All the authority that Jesus had was being the Son of God who came as the Son of Man. With that authority, Jesus did greater works ON THE GO - healing the sick, cleansing the leper, casting the demon out, raising the dead. But, He didn't hold that authority to Himself; He gave it to ALL of His disciples while He was on earth. When the seventy returned with joy, He said,

Luke 10:19 - Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Loving and gracious Jesus (like Father like Son), He not only redeemed us with His precious blood but also made way for us to live this victorious joyful life by sending His Helper to dwell in us and with us.

John 16:13 - When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Colossians 2:9-10 - For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

What a privilege we have in Him! We are given authority and we are given power. Power along with Authority brings to fruition all that God’s word says! Amen! The Acts of the Apostles attest to what Jesus did and left us with to do. We are to walk in that path of Power and Spirit as Jesus walked, followed by His Apostles. Hence, can the believers or Christians be called the “Authorised Dealers of God’s Power and Spirit” to do the great commission assigned by Jesus Christ before His ascension? The greatest job one has in this entire world! This job is exclusively for the believers who are living on this planet.

Now, ask yourself: “Am I an Authorised Dealer of God’s Power and Spirit?"
