Atom Bomb Power in You!

While reading the Word, one phrase kept being repeated and I needed to examine the power it conveyed. Paul kept reiterating to every ethnic group he wrote the words, "Jesus in You." When you hear concepts that originate in the spiritual realm, it is frequently difficult to define their meaning or application in the physical one. I have discovered that the simplicity of much-heard phrases have some of the most complex truths that are beyond the logic of the mind, and need to remain in the realm of the spirit, accepting them by faith.

Ephesians 3:17, 19 says, "May Christ through your faith actually dwell, settle down, abide, make His permanent home in your hearts. May you be rooted deep in love and founded secretly on love, that you may have the power and be strong, that you may really come to know practically, through experience that you may be filled through all your being unto all the fullness of God, that is may have the nicest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly fitted and flooded with God Himself."

You can't speak the name of Jesus without including His power and authority. I saw one of those pictures from 1945 of the atomic bomb being dropped on our enemy, Japan. The magnitude of its power was huge, and the evidence of destruction was overwhelming. To backtrack the steps it took to get there, we would see that scientists discovered the means by which one of the smallest elements can be split. When divided, the power is not divided, it is multiplied and continues splitting and multiplying until the power of destruction cannot be calculated.

God was revealing to me that He is in us - the essence of power that cannot be contained, measured or controlled. As the atomic bomb was placed in a receptacle and then into an airplane, it traveled to its perfect target. The bomb was dropped, hit the bullseye, and the war was over.

Jesus says that He is the atom, having untold power which fills us with His fullness. The shell that encased the bomb went along for the ride. It did not know the greatness of what it was carrying, nor was it responsible for the outcome of the journey. All it did was surrender to the necessity of its availability. All Jesus asks of us is to house Him and allow Him to take us wherever He chooses, not to do what He has already done, but to be an integral part of what He is doing now.

The atomic bomb was sent to destroy, John 10:10, but Jesus was sent to bring life, more abundantly. Our bombshell was destroyed in Japan, but God's plan is mapped out in Ephesians 3:20 which says, "Now to Him Who, by the action of His power that is at work within us, is able to carry out its purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think, infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams."

Father, help us keep our eyes on the core of our being - Jesus Himself, and not on the housing that carries Him around - our bodies, minds and emotions.
