John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Medicine affords countless examples of the physical explaining the spiritual. In the field of surgery, instruments need to be sterilized in an autoclave which uses extremely hot water under high pressure and above all, the surgeon needs to know what he is doing.
Instruments are wrapped in specific numbers, depending on the surgery, in blue towels and when cooled from the autoclave, are placed on carts and wheeled into the surgical room. Just before the operation begins, instruments are unwrapped, ready for the doctor when he calls for them. An orthopedic surgeon would include in his arsenal a surgical hammer and chisel. A neurosurgeon would include fine pieces of wire that require magnifying glasses to manipulate them into the brain.
Spiritually speaking, let’s assign physical objects to spiritual entities. Suppose you represent an instrument and God represents a surgeon. Instead of hundreds of instruments, you are alone on a cart looking up at three individuals. The first says, “I am your Father Who loves you more than you can imagine. Know that I will never leave you or forsake you.” The second says, “I am Jesus, the One Who died so that you could live.” The third says, “I Am the Holy Spirit, your helper, having power on which you can rely to do all things.” The Father says that They have a task for you and are asking if you are willing to be used? He says that not only will they be with you on the outside to perform the surgery, but they are also on the inside with power to complete what was started. Of course your answer is “yes.”
You wake up the next morning with great anticipation of being used by God, but crawling into bed the same night, you recall the day’s activities and nothing of importance stands out. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. However, in the spirit realm, this is what happened! While reminiscing with a family member, they brought up a tragic accident that left a close relative permanently scared. The other person confessed that they felt responsible for leaving their bike on the garage floor where the accident happened. You said, “They didn’t fall on your bike, they fell off a ladder. You had nothing to do with it.” Your words became a hammer of truth that shattered the rock of guilt your relative had been carrying for decades. You helped release a captive that was held in bondage by a lie!
At your job, you talked with a quiet man who kept to himself. You told him that he was going to be promoted because of his excellent performance. Little did you know that since childhood, his father told him that he would never amount to anything. He was born a loser. God used you as a carrier of His words as an instrument of love and acceptance he had never received. They went to the very pinpoint core of his being that could only be touched by God Himsel
We want so desperately to find approval in God’s eyes when all He asks is “Can I send you?” If He let us see every time we were faithful and saw the eternal results, we might not be able to live with! Pride can sneak into our lives before we see it coming. God is so good at helping us not yielding to temptation. Isaiah 42:8 says, “I am the Lord, that is My name, and My glory I will not give to another.”
My friend, have you been put in the autoclave of receiving Jesus’ righteousness for your sin, and said, “I am Yours?” You are His child, an instrument in His hands, whether you see it or feel it. We will never know all that He has done for us, to us or through us until we see Him face to face.
2 Timothy 2:21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
